A complete case history will be administered to determine possible health risk factors for hearing loss. You will be tested objectively using state of the art equipment to determine your hearing thresholds and your ability to understand speech. The results will help us determine whether or not you need further medical assessment by your family physician or if you are a good candidate for hearing aid amplification. Remember, if you need hearing aids, only Physicians or Audiologists can legally prescribe them. Ontario residents who have a valid Ontario Health card are eligible for assistance for hearing aids through the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) of Ontario.
If you have concerns, you shouldn’t wait to have your child’s hearing tested. With newborn hearing screening, most children are being diagnosed with hearing loss almost immediately. However, newborn hearing screening does not rule out late-onset, fluctuating or progressive hearing loss.
If a hearing loss isn’t properly identified, a child may experience a number of different problems such as academic failure, speech and language delays, cognitive delays, behavioral problems or social isolation.
Audiologists receive training during their University Audiology programs to properly assess many pediatric cases. With our pediatric assessment in Hamilton, your child’s hearing will be assessed using developmentally appropriate testing techniques. Special attention will be made to determine what acoustic modifications are needed, if any, both at school and at home. The Hearing Aid Consultation is a counselling session centered around your specific hearing needs, and the hearing aid devices available to fit those needs. We will discuss your potential benefit from hearing aids, which hearing aid styles are best suited for you, and the special circuits that are most appropriate for your particular hearing loss. You will receive honest and realistic information about the expected outcomes with hearing aids with no added hype or high pressure.

Common battery sizes are 10, 13, 312, 675, rechargeable. To identify the battery size, manufacturers use an industry standard colour coded system:
Swimplugs, custom earplugs, Musician earplugs, ear monitors, Custom iPod earbuds. We also offer a wide variety of hearing aid accessories such as dri-aid kits, battery testers and earwax removal products.
We offer a wide selection of amplified telephones. Sometimes hearing aids do not provide enough benefit in hostile listening environments. Ask us about FM systems and how they might provide additional benefit in conjunction with your hearing aids.
